The weather for bowls was quite warm on Thursday with 22 players taking part.

Two teams – Milan Brankovic and Geoff Holt and Tony Ruhl and John Cooper – had winning margins of 14 shots. Milan and Geoff won the count back to collect the vouchers.

In other games, the winners were Michel Alavoine, Stephen Walsh and Colin Pow-ell who won by 7 shots, Kevin Bryant and Joe Bargwanna who had a big lead early and ended up winning by 7 shots and Aldo Malvicino and Tom Preston who had a 3 shot margin.

Play started at 9.30 am on Saturday in an attempt to avoid the very hot weather. Just 10 players were involved with a game of pairs and a game of triples. The vouchers for the day went to the triples combination of Bill Maloney, Vic Brown and John Cooper with the big mar-gin of 19 shots.

The margin for the pairs game was much smaller with Max Penfold and Tom Preston winning by 3 shots.

The Club’s President’s Day will be held on Sunday and any players who want to play but are not already in a team should contact a member of the bowls committee.

This is the final reminder concerning the District Fours Championship with entries closing Thursday 28th January.

The next session of the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge starts next week. The competition will consist of two divisions one on Wednesday night and one on Thursday night.
