Jackpot bowls held last Thursday March 21st saw a good roll up of 30 players, one game of triples and 6 games of pairs with some very close margins in most games. The winners of the vouchers with a margin of 9 shots were Michael Webb and Harold Anderson.

Charity bowls results from Thursday night Guy Picking Charity Bowls saw the winning team being “Volleys” with a 14 point margin.

Bowls last weekend was the District Pairs competition for 3 grades, conducted at Young, Harden and Cootamundra Country Club. At Young, the Open Pairs resulted in games played up to the semi-finals.

The semi-final will feature Rob Anderson and Brad Lange from Cootamundra Country Club and Dylan McAlister and Brendan McAlister from Quandialla Club. In the second semi-final, Ken and Bevan McAlister Quandialla Club play Dave Ward and George Sommerville Young Club. These matches and the final will be played next Saturday March 30th at Young. The Seniors final to be played at Harden next Saturday, Geoff Holt and Graeme Edgerton, Young will play Terry McDonald and Jim Deacon Cootamundra Ex-Services Club.

In the Presidents Reserves, the semis, Neil Blacket and Geoff Manwaring play Michael Webb and Terry Mulligan Young Club and Greg Field and Wally Chater play Steve Stanton and Robert Hillier, both teams from Cootamundra.

Pennants matches continued on Sunday, the Young Pennant teams competed at Young and Cootamundra Country Club.

The Grades 5 and 6 teams played at home, a very close match resulted. Grade 5 won 59 shots to 57, 9 points to 1. Stockinbingal defeated the combined Bribbaree/Young Grade 7 side 72 shots to 56. Grade 4 had the bye.

One game in the Patterson Bros Jackpot on Saturday afternoon, Tom Preston and Noel Berry defeated Harold Anderson and Scott Douglas.

Coming events at Young Bowling Club, nominations are called for the Club Pairs with entries closing on April 13th and the South West District Singles nominations close on April 5th.

The Three Bowls Pairs tournament entries close on April 5th, the Open tournament will be held on Friday 12th. This tournament was very successful last year. It will be a great day of bowls with prize money and lunch etc on the day.
