Club Pairs winners Damien Miller and David Quigley.

Congratulations to Damien Miller and David Quigley on winning the Club Pairs Championship for the third consecutive year.

On Saturday afternoon, they defeated Stephen Walsh and Colin Stokell 22–13 in the final. Playing conditions for the game were excellent and after 9 ends the scores were level at 6-all. Damien and David gained a small break over the next 5 ends to lead 11–8. The turning point in the game saw Damien and David score 4 shots on the 16th end and again on the 17th end to lead 20–8 and despite Stephen and Colin scoring 5 shots on the next 2 ends, they could not bridge the gap.

Well done to all four players for their efforts in this event.

Play earlier in the week saw 28 players involved on Thursday afternoon. The highest margin for the afternoon was 22 shots for Aldo Malvicino and Ian Schofield. Other winning teams and their margins were Kevin Bryant and Joe Bargwanna 13 shots, Stephen Walsh and Mark Anderson 11, Brian March and Tony Ruhl 11, Milan Brankovic and Cliff Traynor 6, Albert Carter and Les Fanning 5, and Brian Christie and John Cooper 1. The one shot margin proved to be very good as that was the number needed to win the $200 jackpot.
