Damien Miller Singles 2021

Congratulations go to Damien Miller on winning the Club Singles Championship for the second consecutive year.

The final was played on Saturday afternoon with Damien defeating Geoff Holt 31–14.

Damien established a lead of 12–3 during the first 9 ends and despite Geoff playing some good bowls to trail 14–9 after 14 ends Damien proved too consistent on the day.

Also on Saturday the club hosted a Preliminary Round of the BPL Cup. This event is played throughout Australia as a two bowl triples competition involving sets play.

The ten teams were divided into two sections and every team played four games during the day.

In Section 1 the overall winners were Jake Fisher, Terry Smith and Matt Peisley from Harden who won three of their four games. Elsie Hines, Geoff Hines, Ian Gailey and Margaret Gailey also won three games but lost the count–back.

The Boorowa Ex–Services team of Michael Munn, Darryl Murphy and Shane Foote were clear–cut winners in Section 2 when they won all four games. The winning teams have qualified to play in the Regional Finals at Cowra on 12th September.

With many of our regular players already occupied there were only six starters for Saturday afternoon bowls. In a close game the winning team for the afternoon consisted of Jeff Jacquier, Mark Anderson and Harold Anderson with a margin of 2 shots.

Thursday afternoon saw 16 players involved in fine but quite cold conditions.

Brian Christie and Harold Anderson had a very big win in their game with a score of 32–8. This gave them the vouchers for the day.

Aldo Malvicino and Les Fanning won their game 25–14, while Tony Ruhl and Joe Bargwanna won their game 21–19. In the remaining game Michel Alavoine and Colin Powell scored 3 shots on an extra end to win their game 26–23.

This week the final of the Club Pairs will be played on Saturday afternoon with John Cooper and Peter Watts opposed to Damien Miller and David Quigley.

Players are advised to check the notice board for details of events scheduled to be played over the next few weeks.
