The first round of the Club Triples Championship was completed on Saturday afternoon in very windy conditions.
Bob Ruhl, Andrew Hutchison and Jeff Jacquier led Ian Gailey, Jonathon Watson and Cliff Traynor 16–7 mid–way through their game. Despite Cliff’s team winning 5 of the final 6 ends of the game they were unable to bridge the gap and Jeff’s team won 24–19.
The outcome of the game between Damien Miller, Ged Hardman and David Quigley and Ted Loader, Martin Betcher and Denis Rosen was probably determined early in the game when David’s team won 7 of the first 8 ends to lead 16–1. Denis’s team gradually cut back the deficit and after 22 ends were trailing 19–25. David’s team won the final 3 ends to win 31–19.
The opening 8 ends of the game that saw Albert Carter, Les Fanning and Colin Powell playing John Cooper, Geoff Holt and Peter Watts saw Peter’s team leading 22–1 and the final score for the game was 37–11.
The fourth game for the day saw Brian March, Joe Bargwanna and George Somerville playing Scott Douglas, Glen Benson and Ian Schofield.
After 10 ends the scores were level at 7–all. George’s team won 7 of the next 9 ends to lead 20–11.
The next 3 ends went to Ian’s team and they were behind 19–20 with 3 ends to play.
After the standard 25 ends the scores were level at 21–all and the extra end saw George’s team score 1 shot to win 22–21.
There were also 8 players involved in Jackpot bowls.
Colin Chapman and Harold Anderson won their game by 2 shots and Brian Christie and Tony Ruhl had a margin of 16 shots in their game.
Bowls on Thursday afternoon saw 18 players on the green in very warm conditions.
Three of the four games had small margins and the highest margin for the afternoon was 10 shots for Tom Preston and Bill Maloney.
Tony Ruhl and Denis Rosen won their game by 4 shots, Brian Christie and Harold Anderson won their game by 1 shot as did the triples team of Milan Brankovic, Andrew Hutchison and Cliff Traynor.
Play in the Wednesday night division of the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge saw 14 teams on the green.
Lachlan Street were the winners for the night with 14 points and HGH also scored 14 points.
The Thursday night division saw 18 teams in action – the highest number of teams to play on a Thursday night.
Both Soccer 1 and Soccer 2 scored 16 points and the Soccer 2 team were the winners for the night.
For the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge play this week will decide the winning teams for the two divisions and they will play the final on Wednesday 15th December.
The Boorowa Ex–Services Club held their President’s Day on Sunday.
As usual this event was well attended with teams from our local district as well as teams from Woodstock, Cowra, Yass and four teams from Belconnen.
Thanks to the 12 players from our club who represented the club and the district for this event.
The Women’s Bowling Club started their Fours Championships on Thursday 2nd December.
The two winning teams were Judith Mulligan, Lee Veitch, Elsie Hines and Margaret Gailey and Robyn Tierney, Jenny Holt, Jill Rosen and Sheila Traynor.
The final is scheduled to be played on Friday 10th December.

A reminder that the Fishing Club will be holding their annual Christmas Bowls afternoon on Sunday 12th December. The entry form is on the notice board and the event is for single entries with entries closing at 5.00 pm on Saturday 11th December.
