Congratulations to Kathryn Betcher and Peter Watts on winning the delayed final of the 2021 Mixed Pairs Championship.

They played Elsie and Neal Hines in the final in very cold conditions on Saturday afternoon.

After 6 ends the score was 8–all and after 12 ends the scores were again level at 14–all.

Kathryn and Peter then won the next 5 ends to lead 22–14. This break proved decisive as although Elsie and Neal won 3 of the final 4 ends they could not bridge the gap and the final score was 23–18.

There was also a semi–final of the Club Fours played on Saturday with Damien Miller, Darryle Miller, Jono Watson and David Quigley opposed to Milan Brankovic, Albert Carter, Graeme Edgerton and Cliff Traynor.

The first 7 ends saw David’s team take a very strong lead of 17–2. From that point on the scoring was fairly even and the final score was 25–12 in David’s favour.

The winners will play Peter Watts’ team in the final.

The conditions ensured that there was no social play on Saturday and only 8 players were on the green on Thursday.

The vouchers for Thursday went to Aldo Malvicino and Denis Rosen who won their game 19–9.

The other game was won 19–13 by Albert Carter and Harold Anderson. The weather conditions were quite cold on Friday when the club conducted an Open 3 Bowls Pairs Tournament.

There were 24 teams competing with several local teams and teams from Grenfell, Harden, Cootamundra and Junee.

Fortunately the rain held off and the three games of twelve ends were completed as scheduled.

The overall winners were Jason Jones and John Harriott from Harden with 3 wins and a margin of 30 shots. Peter Mead’s team from Grenfell finished second with 3 wins and a 17 shot margin.

Third place went to LeeAnne McInerney and Martin Cousley from Junee and Bill Manwaring and Terry McDonald from Cootamundra were fourth overall.

Game winner prizes went to Martin Holmes and Rob Minister from Junee, Jenny and Geoff Holt and John and Kate Cooper.

Thanks to Damien for his great work in organising the day, to Bob Ruhl for his work at the BBQ and the raffle, to Matt and Gary behind the bar and to the catering staff from The Greens for the finger food.

This is the final reminder concerning entries for the Club Pairs Championship.

Entries close on Saturday afternoon and the first games will be scheduled for Saturday 18th June. Players who are drawn to play on 18th will be notified by text message on Sunday 12th.

There is information on the notice board concerning two rounds of the BPL Cup to be held on Sunday 10th July and Saturday 30th July.
