Post Office History Book launch in Boorowa
Cheryl and John Mudford who co-authored a book on the history of local Post Offices and telephone exchanges.
Recently, the Boorowa Museum hosted a book launch detailing the history of the local post offices and telephone exchanges.
Authors Cheryl and John Mudford, recently retired from the Local Post Office at Boorowa, became fascinated with the history of these links with the daily lives of local people. They started out on a research project that took several years and involved input from many local people as well as from official records.
During the book launch, Cheryl recorded her thanks for all the assistance and interest they received while doing this. Win Ryan also spoke of her time in the telephone exchange. During the afternoon tea that followed, many stories were shared by all those present, making it a most enjoyable afternoon.
Cheryl and John have co-authored around 15 history books since 1988 and the Boorowa Historical Society were happy to have hosted this event.
The book is available from the Boorowa Museum and the Destin-E Gift Shop (old Post Office building).
