Boorowa Rotary, represented by their president Chris Carter, were among those at the regional meeting to discuss a new future for Rotary.

As a service organisation, Rotary has begun to create a new future for itself.

On Saturday, August 3, President of Boorowa Rotary, Chris Carter attended a meeting with presidents and secretaries from clubs in Central Area to share ideas designed to energise Rotary Clubs in their towns.

Given the area stretches from Bowral to Temora, Parkes and includes Yass, Harden, Murrumburrah, Young, Goulburn, Crookwell, Cowra and Boorowa, ideas were flying everywhere.

A key understanding from the meeting was that Rotary had changed from the organisation it was 20 years ago.

Rotary is inclusive of anyone who wishes to join, meetings are less formal, varied and have a lively, defined, social component.

Technology has become an essential tool for Rotarians and John Divermore from Young Rotary has developed a platform, which all Rotary clubs present will use to communicate, share ideas and solve problems.

Rotarians left the meeting determined to ensure Rotary was recognised for its service to the community, that communities understand why Rotary exists and to design a way for people to enjoy the friendships, fun and frivolity that being a Rotarian provide.

Over coming meetings, Boorowa Rotary will develop plans to raise Rotary’s profile and attract members who are keen for Boorowa to continue to be a community that builds good will, is fair, friendly and beneficial for all.

As the motto used for Boorowa says, “as Rotarians we strive to improve the world through service, generosity and friendship. Let us hold the ideals of Rotary high in all we do.”

Boorowa Rotary meets on Wednesday evenings at the Boorowa Hotel at 7 pm for dinner.

Why not join them for dinner and find out about Rotary in Boorowa.
