Mayor Margaret Roles has stepped in to officially open the inaugural Harden Murrumburrah Silo Art Fest on Sunday after the organising committee learned that Heescco was now unable to attend.

However, internationally acclaimed street artists, Damien Mitchell and Luke Brown will be on hand to demonstrate their skills and participate in a Q&A session.

Internationally acclaimed, but Aussie born and bred, Mitchell’s creative sketches and drawings, spray painted freehand evolve into dramatic art pieces.

He has painted on five continents and now lives in Brooklyn, but he got his start in Wagga during his teen years.

Luke Brown spends hundreds of hours working on each of his paintings, taking from six months to two years to complete.

With over 20 years of experience, Brown is best known for his obsessive attention to detail, using the smallest brushes available.

Both artists will encourage attendees to get involved and try their hand at creating, in keeping with the interactive concept of the family-friendly Festival.

Organisers are expecting the inaugural event to be a huge success and look forward to seeing everyone get involved.

The hands-on event encourages both adults and children to learn and put into practice techniques and includes a host of instant art competitions throughout the day.

Attendees can try their hand at everything from First Nation weaving, sculpture and woodturning through to painting, paint pouring and Pattina Alchemy.

You can even try your hand at gold panning, bush bands and hot dampers for a taste of our history.

Silo Art Fest will take place this Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm at Mill Park, Murrumburrah.
