As everyone can appreciate, COVID-19 put the kybosh on fun gatherings such as fetes, so it is with great pleasure that community events like St Joseph’s Colour Explosion and Fete are resuming.

Saturday 25 March saw a succession of inflatable castles, giant slippery dips and basketball hoops emerge on St Joseph’s grounds. St Joseph’s made these free for children, and by the time this reporter arrived at 11am, it was clear that much fun was being had by kids of all ages. Barbeques were sizzling and people were clearly enjoying hot, tasty treats.

There were 25 market stalls on the grounds selling items from local makers. Local stall holder, Kim Rogers (The Birds, the Bees, and Me) commented that, “It was wonderful to see so many locals as well as visitors come and support the school.”

“The little shower of rain didn’t seem to dampen spirits and the kids loved the colour run in the afternoon.”

“As a stall holder we really appreciate people coming down and saying hello. It’s a great community we live in and it’s that support that helps all small handmade businesses succeed.”
