The Young Hospital Auxiliary finished off a very successful 2025 with their Christmas meeting and luncheon in early December.

The Auxiliary held two main fundraising events in 2025, the High Tea in April and the Open Gardens in November. Young Hospital Auxiliary Publicity Officer Libby Plumley said the Auxiliary will hold these events again in 2026 plus the Winter Luncheon and Guest Speaker in June.

“The Auxiliary has received wonderful support from the community of Young and district supporting these events and continuing support of their raffles. In 2026 raffles will be sold from the entrance of Bunnings. The funds raised go towards purchasing items for our local hospital and health facility.”

At the December meeting, the Auxiliary approved nearly $28,000 worth of items for purchase. The largest purchase approved was new chairs in the reception seating area/allied health waiting area at a cost of $23,000. The purchase of a baby mannequin head for training for baby resuscitation airway technique and a ‘giraffe’ light meter to check newborns for jaundice were also approved.

“In the new year, the Auxiliary will be following up with hospital management on the improvement of the WiFi and telephone reception within the hospital building,” said Libby.

The Auxiliary also presented the office staff of the hospital a certificate of appreciation for the continued support and help to the Auxiliary. The office staff assist the Auxiliary in a range of administrative tasks. Administration Manager Narelle Adams and Acting Facility Manager Jessica Pavese, accepted the Certificate of Appreciation from Auxiliary President, Janice Ward.
