Visitors once again flocked to Boorowa to celebrate the Boorowa Irish Woolfest. The weather was sunny and warm and the day kicked off in the morning with the Young Town Band on the main stage in Marsden Street.
Just Circus performed their first of three performances for the day.
There were demonstrations of working dogs and wood chopping along with a variety of pipe bands playing at the roundabout.
The Blessing of the Fleece commenced at 11am before the Street Parade featuring the highly anticipated Running of the Sheep kicked off at 12 o’clock.
While the sheep took a little convincing, they got there in the end, leading the celebrations into the afternoon.
There was plenty to do in the afternoon, with the fun of the Irish Accent and Guiness Pie Eating Competitions, the Quick Shear Competition, more performances, demonstrations and displays as well as market stalls, jumping castles, sideshow alley and the brand new Upcycle Fashion contest.
The celebrations continued into the evening with the ‘Saturday Fringe Fun’ event flowing on from the Festival.
At Boorowa Park, there were family friendly activities including a jumping castle and slide, colouring in station, face painting and crazy hair salon as well as children’s entertainment.
There was an evening movie under the stars with an open air screening of the very fitting ‘Rams’.
There were food trucks and treats to sample while enjoying the movie and the night ended with a fireworks finale.
Boorowa Irish Woolfest 2025 was a huge success, with attendees encouraged to save the dates for next year’s Festival.
Next year’s Festival dates are Friday the 2nd to Sunday the 4th of October, 2026.
