Nine Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) Tai Chi volunteer leaders recently refreshed their skills and arrived at solutions to some of their challenges at a network day in Temora with Master Trainer Lorna Nixon.

“Tai Chi is a great way to improve your balance and flexibility in a friendly, social setting. We are lucky to have such great leaders in our region,” said Lorna.

The MLHD Tai Chi program aims to improve access to safe physical activity, especially for older adults living in rural communities. Tai Chi classes run weekly in over 20 communities across the District.

MLHD Health Promotion Officer Barb Manwaring said, “We know the importance of regular physical activity to maintain good health and this is a great chance for community members to take part in a low cost activity locally.”

Sessions are running weekly in Young on Mondays at 9.30am at the PCYC and Thursdays at 9am at the Southern Cross Cinema. Participants are asked to contribute a gold coin per session to assist with program running costs.
