Time To Fill Shoeboxes For Operation Christmas Child

The filled shoeboxes need to be returned to Windscreen Professionals Young by Friday the 17th of October so they can be delivered in time for Christmas.
It is the time of year when the special project Operation Christmas Child begins readying their special shoeboxes for delivery to those less fortunate.
Operation Christmas Child is a project where gifts are packed in special shoeboxes and sent to countries less fortunate than ours through an organisation called Samaritans Purse.
Young and District Coordinator Lyn Walker said the simple shoebox can mean so much.
“It is amazing to think that one shoebox full of fun and practical items can bring so much hope and joy to a child who may have not ever received a Christmas gift.”
Residents from local churches, schools, organisations and thoughtful individuals are encouraged to get involved.
Pre-printed shoeboxes and brochures, which explain the types of items that can be included in the shoebox are available now from Windscreen Professionals Young on Lovell Street.
Lyn said people across the Hilltops really got involved in the project last year.
“From our local area, 350+ shoeboxes were collected in 2024 and sent to the Ukraine, Cambodia, Fiji, Solomon Islands and Philippines,” said Lyn.
The boxes will need to be delivered back to Windscreen Professionals by Friday the 17th of October so they can make it to their destination in time for Christmas. For more information, contact Lyn Walker on 0428 699 779.
