The Harden-Murrumburrah Arts Council is pleased to announce that after being delayed due to Covid, the inaugural Harden-Murrumburrah Landscape Art Prize is finally here.

The board of the Harden-Murrumburrah Bendigo Community Bank came up with the idea for the Acquisitive Landscape Art Prize, but planning had to be put on hold when the pandemic hit.

All entries must be received by March 31, along with payment of $30 per painting, and must have been created in their entirety within the 12 months prior to the exhibition.

As stated in the title of the competition, all paintings must be landscapes in watercolour, acrylic or oils. Any works on paper must be professionally mounted and framed behind glass.

The finalists’ works will be on exhibition at the historic old courthouse in Murrumburrah over the weekend of May 6 to 8, with an official opening on Friday evening.

It is anticipated that this competition will boost tourism, accommodation and hospitality, encouraging visitors to the area and promoting cultural awareness in the district.

The Harden-Murrumburrah Community Bank and the Kruger Trust are sponsoring the art competition, offering a very attractive $10,000 prize to the winner.

Artists can find the online application form at www.hardenartprize.org.
