The District Pennant competition between Grade 3 and 4 has begun. On Saturday, 8th February, Cootamundra Country Club played 2 games against Grenfell. Currently, Cootamundra has 5.5 points with Grenfell on 4.5 points.

This Thursday 13th February, Young plays Cootamundra Country Club at Young and Saturday they play Grenfell at Grenfell. The Young Grade 3 side consists of Judith Mulligan, Heather Bailey, Kate Cooper and Margaret Gailey as well as Sheila Traynor, Therese Ruhl, Elsie Hines and Margo Parker. The Young Grade 3 side must win all games against the 2 Grade 4 sides of Cootamundra and Grenfell in order to make it to the regional play-offs.

The Internal Pennant competition begins this Saturday 15th February. Boorowa Ex Services, Harden, Cootamundra Ex Services and Young clubs will compete against one another in order to win the District trophy. Winners do not compete at regional or state level.

The Young side consists of 2 teams of 3 players. Robyn Tierney, Ann Gardner and Julie Alavoine as well as Jenny Holt, Jill Rosen and Judy Watson. They are wished the best of luck and good playing. Their first game is against Boorowa Ex Services Club this Saturday.

At Social bowls Tuesday 11th February, 19 women enjoyed playing under cloud cover and some slight drizzle. A new player, Peta, was thrown in at the deep end by having to play double lead. Peta, Joy Murray and Judy Watson had a win with a margin of 6 over Peta, Robyn Tierney and Margaret Glasheen.

Zita Farrell, Loretta Granville and Pat Reid won by 1 shot against Jenny Holt, Ann Gardner and Jill Rosen. The Grade 3 Pennant side used the opportunity to play against each other for good practice for the coming games. Sheila Traynor, Therese Ruhl, Kathryn Betcher and Elsie Hines won by a margin of 4 against Judith Mulligan, Heather Bailey, Kate Cooper and Margaret Gailey. Judith Mulligan rolled a lovely resting toucher and Judy Watson’s team won the vouchers. The jackpot was not won.
