On Tuesday, Melbourne Cup day, 16 players turned up for a fun afternoon. Two games of 14 ends of 3 bowl Pairs were played with the Cup race being viewed between games. The following pairs won both games: Tony Ruhl and Les Fanning 1st with a 27 shot margin; Sheila Traynor and John Cooper 2nd with a 16 shot margin and Ann Gardner and Denis Rosen 3rd with a 6 shot margin. It was a very enjoyable day ending with refreshments from the Asian restaurant.

The Women’s Club Selected Triples Championship began on Wednesday, 4th November with four teams competing. Robyn Tierney, Jill Rosen and Kate Cooper won against Honor Stollery, Judy Watson and Sheila Traynor with a score of 24/12 while Jenny Holt, Heather Bailey and Margaret Gailey had a win of 22/10 against Ann Gardner, Zita Farrell and Therese Ruhl. The final between Margaret and Kate’s team will be on Wednesday 11th November commencing at 1pm.

Three teams from Young competed in the Jenny Ricketts Memorial Tournament at Harden on Saturday, 7th November. 14 teams entered the Triples tournament from within and outside the SW District. Two games of 12 ends were played before lunch and another game after lunch. 1st place winners were Harden, 2nd Yass and 3rd the Young team of Ann Gardner, Heather Bailey and Kate Cooper. The Young team of Sheila Traynor, Jill Rosen and Judy Watson won the best margin in the afternoon game. It was Ann’s lucky day as she won the lovely raffle as well and Kathryn Betcher from the other Young team won $30 in the 50 Club. A great deal of effort by the Harden Club Committee ensured a great tournament.

The 3rd round of the Summer League was held at the Young Club on Sunday, 8th November.
Results are as follows:
Section 1 - Young Cherryettes beat Cootamundra Mixed Girls 18/12 and Young Herz beat Harden Hawks 16/13.
Section 2 - Forever Young won 20/9 over Slightly Biased (Young) and Boorowa Sweethearts won 19/16 against Grenfell Girls. Points to date are: Young Cherryettes 6 points; Young Herz, Forever Young and Grenfell Girls on 4 points each, Harden Hawks, Slightly Biased and Boorowa Sweethearts on 2 points each while Cootamundra Mixed Girls are yet to score.

A reminder that entries for the Club Mixed Pairs Championship are on the notice board and close 5pm Sunday, 15th November.
