Work begins on Harden Tennis Courts

Work has begun on the new tennis courts in Harden, with the first sod being turned last week.

Harden Tennis Club Inc Treasurer Bronwyn Ryan said the new courts would be an asset for the entire community. “It was really important for us as a Tennis Club to include the community as a whole by creating multipurpose courts, not just tennis, so we can have more members of the community playing more sport,” Ms Ryan said.

“It is absolutely fantastic to start this project. The tennis courts in Harden have needed repairs for many years. It will be great to be part of the whole hub where we will have so many sports in one place.”

The project is funded by three grants from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, which total $393,000. The multipurpose courts are being built at the Harden Country Club.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke turned the first sod and said she was delighted to break ground on the new courts. “Sport is such a vital part of our communities, and these new courts will help to create a modern social space for a range of clubs and teams,” Ms Cooke said.

“This is an investment in to the entire Harden Murrumburrah community, creating a place where people can come together to be active and socialise. I look forward to seeing it take shape over the coming months.”
