Harmony Day falls on March 21, but Young and District Multicultural Association (YADMA) will host their Harmony Gala dinner a few days early on Saturday, March 18.

The dinner will take place at Young Services and Citizen’s Club commencing at 6 pm.

YADMA’s president, Josie Johnson said the night was to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, based on the successful integration of migrants into our community.

“It is an opportunity for all Australians to embrace cultural diversity and to share what we have in common,” Ms Johnson said.

“We would like to invite our community across the Hilltops region to celebrate Harmony Week.”

“It is also a part of Hilltops Off the Beaten Track.”

Brian Lorenz will be back by popular demand to entertain the group in song.

There will also be the usual cultural performances by Coota Bollywood Dancers, Philippine Dancers, Thai, Indonesian, Nepalese and Taiwan members.

Please RSVP by tomorrow if you would like to enjoy a wonderful night of multicultural delights, a three-course dinner, with a drink on arrival, music and dancing for just $75 per person.

Book by contacting Colin Durham on 0427 102 456 or Josie Johnson on 0428 574 841.

The dress code for the night is a multicultural outfit or semi-formal to formal wear.

There will be prizes for best dressed lady and gentleman in a cultural outfit and best dressed for cultural along with raffle draws.

This year’s theme, Everyone Belongs, is perfect.

“Australia is where I belong,” Ms Johnson said.

“Harmony is all about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of their cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.”

YADMA has members from 25 different countries and hosts bi-monthly socials like picnics in the park, Christmas in July, bus trips to the Canberra National Multicultural Festival, an annual Gala Harmony dinner and the Cherry Festival Parade.

“We are very excited to announce that the YADMA float won the 2022 National Cherry Festival Street Parade Best Overall,” Ms Johnson said.
