Young District Anglers To Host Kids Fishing Day

Do you have a youngster keen to throw a line in and land a big fish? The Young District Anglers Association will host its 2023 Kids Fishing Day at Chinamans Dam in Young on Saturday, February 25.

President of the Association, Andrew Callaghan said they were looking forward to a great event again this year. “Last year we had 79 kids registered for the day, most of which caught a fish,” Andrew said. “We are hoping to at least get the same or more this year.”

Registrations and fishing will commence at 8am and continue until 12noon followed by a presentation. Prizes will be awarded on the day for all species, with lots of mystery prizes to be awarded during the day for special events.

There will be a free sausage sizzle in operation for all competitors and a coffee van will also be on site. Entry to the day is free for all competitors aged five to 16.

The only conditions of entry are that competitors must supply their own fishing gear and bait and are accompanied by a responsible adult. The aim of the event is simply to have fun and catch and release will be encouraged on the day.
