The Young Hospital Auxiliary has thanked the Hilltops community for supporting its Open Gardens Day on Sunday, November 5.

Auxiliary President, Janice Ward said they were highly pleased with the audience figures and the generosity of those who attended.

Mrs Ward thanked the owners who opened their gardens to the public. “The gardens were a wonderful mixture of small and large gardens that reflected the love and labour of their owners,” Mrs Ward said.

“Visitors experienced different styles of gardens and I am sure, came away enthused and with admiration of what they experienced.”

The Hospital Auxiliary thanked the local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle.

Businesses that donated prizes included Bunnings, Simple, Pink Pot Nursery and Golden Glance Nursery.

The weekend’s winners were Mary Tout, Gail Langley, Liz Davidson, June Brien, Simon Hobson and Peter O’Connor.

Mrs Ward said the Auxiliary planned to hold an open gardens event again next year, but said that much like many other organisations the group’s members were getting older and the Auxiliary would welcome new members to contribute to the important task of fundraising for the local hospital.
