Young local with heart to donate hair

Young local Sophie Apps is giving a child in need the gift of hair when she has her long hair cut.

Sophie is having 36cm of her hair cut off and is donating the strands to Hair with Heart, which is part of Variety, the children’s charity. Sophie’s hair will be used to make a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition. “It’s been a long term goal of mine to donate my hair to a charity that’ll use it to help children who are less fortunate then I am,” said Sophie.

As well as donating her hair, Sophie is also raising funds. Sophie’s initial goal was $1500, which she has since surpassed. All funds will be donated to Variety along with her hair to help sick kids in need. “During challenging times, it is important that we all come together to help each other and those in need,” said Sophie.

Sophie’s locks will be trimmed on the 18th of July, 2020.
