The South West District Women’s Triples Championship was played at Cootamundra Country Club (CCC) on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.

At the end of play on Tuesday afternoon, winners were the teams of Robyn Tierney, Sheila Traynor and Kathryn Betcher (Young); Jennifer Blundell, Vivian Christie and Diana Buchanan (CCC); Jill Rosen, Therese Ruhl and Kate Cooper (Young); Jenny Holt, Ann Gardner and Margo Parker (Young); Judith Mulligan, Heather Bailey and Margaret Gailey (Young).

The semi-final on Wednesday morning resulted in a win to Judith, Heather and Margaret (Young) over the CCC team Jenny Blundell, Vivian Christie and Diana Buchanan 21/15 and of the 2 Young teams who had a very tight game, the win of 21/17 went to Jenny, Ann and Margo over Jill, Therese and Kate.

The final on Wednesday afternoon was not as exciting as it should have been. Jenny, Ann and Margo had a resounding victory over Judith, Heather and Margaret who struggled against the great bowling by their Young opponents.

Well done to all the Young teams who performed so well in the District event.

A special mention must be made of Ann Gardner who played in 4 District finals. Ann will play in the Regional Singles Championship at Temora on Tuesday, the 11th of August and she is wished all the very best.

The SW District Mixed Pairs Championship had to be postponed on the weekend because of rain. Hopefully, it will now be played at CCC on Saturday the 22nd of August.
