Bowls

Congratulations to the Young Cherryettes team of Margaret Glasheen, Jill Rosen and Judy Watson who won the Summer League Competition final on Sunday, 6th December. They defeated the Forever Young team of Judith Mulligan, Heather Bailey and Margaret Gailey 13/10. The Young Cherryettes now go through to the State finals to be played at Blacktown in February 2021.

While the final was being played, some members of the other teams in the competition played a game of Pairs. Chris Hancock and Sheila Traynor played Zita Farrell and Elsie Hines with a close win to Chris and Sheila 12/11. Also, Dianne DeBritt and Kate Cooper had a win of 14/8 over Therese Ruhl and Robyn Apps. It was great having these members supporting the Summer League final as well. The South West District meeting on Thursday, 3rd December meant that only six members played social bowls. Zita Farrell, Jill Rosen and Margaret Gailey played Sheila Traynor, Lee Veitch and Kate Cooper with the score 14 all. Both teams won 9 ends each.

The Women’s Club will be holding their Christmas get-together on Thursday, 17th December. Bowls will be played starting at 9.30am followed by lunch. Past and present members are invited to come along. There is a sheet on the notice board for names who are attending. Instead of gifts to each other members are asked to bring in toiletry items which will be given to the Crisis Centre.
