On Tuesday 13th August, 12 ladies braved the cold, foggy start to the day playing Pairs. Joy Murray and Judy Watson won with a margin of 7 over Jill Rosen and Pat Reid; Julie Alavoine and Lee Veitch won with a margin of 6 over Zita Farrell and Judith Mulligan and Ann Gardner and Margaret Gailey won by 4 shots against Sheila Traynor and Heather Bailey. The jackpot was not won but Joy and Judy won the vouchers having the highest margin.
At social bowls on Thursday 22nd August, 9 ladies soaked up the sunshine while playing Pairs and Triples. Sheila Traynor and Margaret Gailey had a win over Jill Rosen and Kate Cooper with a margin of 8 while Ann Gardner, Zita Farrell and Heather Bailey lost to Ann Gardner (double lead), Julie Alavoine and Judith Mulligan by 3 shots. Sheila and Margaret won the vouchers.
The Club’s Triples Championship commenced Tuesday 20th August with 2 teams drawn to play the first round. Judith Mulligan, Heather Bailey and Margaret Gailey come up against Honor Stollery, Mary Bennett and Kate Cooper. The semi- finals will be played Thursday morning, 22nd August with the winner of Tuesday’s game playing one of the other 3 teams who had a bye.
Entries for the Club Fours Championship open Tuesday 20th August and close 10th September.
YBC Open 3 Bowl Pairs Tournament will be held at the Club Friday 30th August. Entries close Friday 23rd August so think about organising a team. $50 per team to accompany entry forms. Also, if you are thinking of playing in the Summer League competition, entries need to be in by Friday 23 August.
The Young Women’s Bowling Club will celebrate President’s Day next Tuesday 27th August. Past members and teams from around the district will join Young members for an enjoyable day. It is hoped the weather will be kind!
Members of the public are most welcome to come and have a try playing bowls. Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons are women’s social days but after this week it will be Tuesday and Thursday mornings. If interested, please phone the YBC on 6382 1112 to find out more.
