Young Women’s Bowls Club resumed play on Thursday, 14th January after a month’s break over the Christmas and New Year period.

Four teams played a Pairs game while 2 others played Triples.

Ann Gardner and Margaret Gailey had a resounding victory over Jill Rosen and Therese Ruhl with a plus 19 margin. A much closer result was between Julie Alavoine and Judith Mulligan who won by 1 shot against Judy Watson and Elsie Hines. Elsie played a lovely resting toucher. The Triples game was between Margaret Glasheen, Jenny Holt and Kate Cooper who defeated Sue (visitor), Heather Bailey and Kathryn Betcher by 3 shots.

Eleven players turned up for social bowls on Thursday 21 January. Julie Ala-voine, Judy Watson and Elsie Hines had a narrow victory over Sheila Traynor, Ann Gardner and Judith Mulligan 14/13. In another Triples game, Jenny Holt, Heather Bailey and Kate Cooper won their game against Jenny Holt (double lead), Therese Ruhl and Kathryn Betcher 19/11. Jenny rolled a lovely resting toucher and Kate’s team won the vouchers.

Ultimate Bowls is being played Friday nights at the YBC. This is a game where players score points for every bowl played. Two lots of 7 ends are played. In the 1st round played 15th January, Kate and John Cooper won with Kathryn and Martin Betcher coming 2nd. In the 2nd round on 22nd January, the Coopers won again with Craig and Jonno Watson coming in 2nd place. If you would like to participate, the game commences at 7pm with names entered by 5pm.
