The Young Women’s Club Singles Championship was held at the Club last Wednesday and Thursday, 22/23 July.

On Wednesday morning, Margo Parker had a win over Judith Mulligan, 25/7; Kate Cooper beat Kathryn Betcher 25/18 while Sheila Traynor won 25/17 against Heather Bailey.

In the afternoon, Kate beat Margo 25/20; Jenny Holt beat Jill Rosen 25/9 and Sheila beat Ann Gardner in a very close game 25/24.

On Thursday morning in the semi-final, Sheila had a win over Kate 25/20 and Jenny won her game against Julie Alavoine 25/17.

The final in the afternoon was indeed a tight one and great for the spectators. The Club Singles was won by Jenny Holt beating Sheila Traynor 25/19. A great effort on Jenny’s part. Both she and Sheila played top bowls! Congratulations to both of them.

On Saturday at Harden, the South West District Open Pairs was contested. Only 4 teams participated in this event.

In the morning, Margo Parker and Kathryn Betcher from the Young Club had a win of 16/14 over the Harden team of Pat Walker and Myssa Stadtmiller, while Taylor and Ann-Marie Phillips from Harden beat Sue Gault and Judy McAlister from Grenfell 17/8.

The final in the afternoon resulted in a win to Margo and Kathryn from Young who beat Taylor and Ann-Marie 16/13. Congratulations Margo and Kathryn.

On Wednesday and Thursday 29/30 July, the SW District Senior Pairs will be held at Young. No doubt some excellent bowls will be played.
