Senior Pairs Championship winners Kate Cooper and Jenny Holt.

Last week at the Young Bowling Club, the South West District Senior Pairs Championship was held.

Several teams were knocked out of the running in the Wednesday morning games. Wednesday afternoon saw Heather Bailey and Judith Mulligan beat the Cootamundra Country Club team of Ellenor Armstrong and Janice Roberts; Jenny Holt and Kate Cooper beat the Harden team of Chris Hancock and Robyn Apps; Ann Gardner and Julie Alavoine had a win over Viviane Christie and Elizabeth Cleveland from Cootamundra and Margaret Glasheen and Sheila Traynor were beaten by the Boorowa team of Maureen Westbury and Yvonne Murphy.

In the semi-final on Thursday morning, 3 of the 4 teams competing were from the Young Club. Jenny and Kate had a good win over Heather and Judith to win 24/11, while Ann and Julie won their game against Maureen and Yvonne 24/5.

The final in the afternoon was certainly a good one to watch. The victors were Jenny and Kate who beat Ann and Julie 26/12. Congratulations, girls!

What a great effort by the Young Women’s Bowls Club to have won the Open Pairs Championship the week before and then win the Senior Pairs as well.

On Wednesday and Thursday this week, Cootamundra Country Club will host the SW District Women’s Triples Championship. There should be some excellent bowling on show.
