Last month’s Silent Art Auction held at the Southern Cross Cinema & Arts Complex on July 28 was a resounding success.

The event raised $5000 towards developing a dedicated art and cultural website for the Hilltops and promoting the 2024 Hilltops Off the Beaten Track Art & Cultural Trail.

The winner of the raffle was drawn on the night by Hilltops Arts Inc president, Chris Burnett and Young Society of Artists Inc (YSA) publicity officer, Heather Ruhl. Victor of the spoils was Boorowa’s Karen Mitchelle.

Since then, the Young Society of Artists members had their yearly challenge - to create a piece of art depicting the Aussie slang phrase - “like a mad woman’s breakfast.”

“We Aussies are famous for our slang, and this one means, “all over the place or messy.”

The annual challenge allows YSA members an opportunity to create outside of their comfort zones and explore outside of the proverbial box.

These works are currently on exhibit in Burrangong Gallery and will remain so until September 15. The exhibition is open daily for viewing.
