The Harden Kite Festival Committee celebrates its 18th birthday as part of the annual gala dinner.

Expectancy is in the air as everyone gets ready to let loose at the annual Harden Kite Festival on Saturday, October 7.

You can almost hear kids asking mums and dads how many more sleeps until they can fly their kites shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the country’s top kite flyers.

The organising committee has been working tirelessly in the background for many months now to ensure that the event is bigger and better than ever, and that is no small feat.

There is one more significant event before the big shindig, and that is something of a birthday celebration for the Harden Kite Festival Committee at the special annual dinner party on Friday night, October 6 at the Harden Country Club.

Tomorrow is the deadline for RSVPs, so if you haven’t let them know you want to attend you need to do so now.

This year marks a milestone event for the Harden Kite Festival Committee.

That’s right, they are celebrating the committee’s 18th birthday with a delicious sitdown meal with 25 kite flying enthusiasts from across the country.

Kite Magic’s Michael Richards who together with his team holds the world record for getting a kite 16,038 feet above ground level, will share a kite talk and a workshop.

Frank Lorusso (Frankie) will give an indoor kite flying demonstration during the night.

People can look through the photo exhibition and display depicting stories from over the years of planning and hosting the Kite Festival.

Tickets cost $50 per person, and money is payable at the door for everyone 13 years and older.

Children from 5 to 12 years can dine for $25 and children under 5 are free.

Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the entirety of the event.

The menu includes beef steak served with vegetables alternated with chicken schnitzel with vegetables for the adults, while children will dine on chicken and chips followed by dessert.
