Guy Pickering Charity Challenge Winners Dec 2021

Wednesday night saw the final of the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge for the current competition.

The Wednesday night division was represented by T’s Rule and Boof’s Heroes were the team representing the Thursday division.

The result was a clear–cut win for Boof’s Heroes – congratulations to Mark Smithers, Emma Smithers and Josh Langfield on a very consistent performance over several weeks.

Thanks to those club members who have been involved in organising the games, the results and the raffles associated with the competition.

Thanks also to those groups who cooked the sausage sizzles over the eight weeks.

Thursday afternoon saw 16 players on the green.

Les Fanning and Ian Schofield had the highest margin for the afternoon when they won their game by 13 shots.

Two winning teams – Milan Brankovic and Harold Anderson and Aldo Malvicino and Colin Chapman – had margins of 12 shots and in the closest game for the day Michel Alavoine and Jeff Jacquier had a margin of 3 shots.

Play for Saturday was transferred to a 10.30am start to avoid the afternoon heat.

A semi–final of the Club Triples saw Damien Miller, Ged Hardman and David Quigley opposed to Brian March, Joe Bargwanna and George Somerville. This resulted in a 25–11 win for David’s team.

There were two game of Jackpot bowls played and the two winning teams were Brian Christie and Harold Anderson with a 6 shot margin and Les Fanning and Vic Brown with a 16 shot margin.

A number of social groups were also on the green on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the rain on Sunday prevented any play for the other semi–final of the Club Triples and also for some social groups.

Bowlers should check the notices concerning upcoming events – especially the information about the Club Fours Championships and Mixed Pairs Championships.

Wishing all those reading this article a Merry Christmas and a Happy, safe and healthy New Year.
